Fala Technologies located in Kingston, N.Y. is an engineering, build-and-test shop that specializes in high-tech manufacturing and machining.
As a designer and builder of custom parts for the semiconductor, aerospace and automotive industries Fala’s work is sought after by big ticket companies like IBM, Global Foundries, and Sikorsky.
Fala partners with T-SEC by using a T-SEC provided piece of equipment, the Sheffield Measurement Cordax Discovery CMM, in a number of training programs spearheaded by Fala Technologies President, Frank Falatyn.
Falatyn, like others in the manufacturing sector, is alarmed by the fact that a growing need for master level tradesmen is occurring at the same time that many of the country’s best tradesman are or are soon to be retiring.
Consequently, he is an advocate for training both skilled and unskilled workers in special programs he has helped create.
One program described in more detail here is an Apprenticeship Program that Fala Technologies was recently certified for by the Department of Labor. It allows Fala to run an apprenticeship program for seven trades:
- CNC machinist
- Electronics technician
- Quality control manager
- Electro mechanical technician
- Maintenance mechanic
Fala is one of the only companies in the Hudson Valley that is expert in all seven of these offerings. Frank Falatyn has partnered with MACNY (Manufacturing Association of Central New York), and along with The Council of Industry, is leading MACNY’s The Apprenticeship initiative in the Hudson Valley.
Fala also works with SUNY Ulster to offer a three part course training in GD&T. These specialized courses build student comprehension of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. It guides them through levels of understanding of the GD&T system. By the end of the series of three courses, students comprehend specific geometries and allowable variation (tolerances) expressed through symbolic language on blueprints as well as other engineering drawings.
