Carl retired as President/COO of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. and Executive Vice President of CH Energy Group, a publicly traded holding company headquartered in the Hudson Valley of New York.
Under Carl’s leadership, T-SEC engages in regional economic development initiatives that cross three sectors: small to medium-sized manufacturers, academia, and start-up/entrepreneurial businesses. Carl is an effective communicator who has successfully collaborated with the US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration and the NY Empire State Development Corporation, along with regional and local economic development organizations.
By accessing funding from these sources, T-SEC has developed and implemented a regional marketing attraction and retention strategy to attract businesses and jobs to the Hudson Valley, as well as to retain and help grow businesses within the Hudson Valley.
Carl serves on the Board of Advisors of the Dutchess County “Think Dutchess Alliance” and currently chairs the organization’s Business Innovation & Growth Committee.
He has also served on the School of Business Advisory Councils of SUNY New Paltz and Mount Saint Mary College, chairing both organizations for many years.
He also serves on the board of the New York Business Development Corporation. NYBDC is a consortium of banks committed to supporting economic development and the growth of jobs in the state of New York by collaborating with lending partners to provide innovative loans, often with government guarantees, to small businesses.
He currently serves on the boards of Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, a longstanding independent public policy, planning, and advocacy organization in the Hudson Valley (past chair), and the Winnakee Land Trust, an organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the region’s precious natural resources (currently Board President).
Carl holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electric power engineering from RPI in Troy, NY and is a registered professional engineer in New York.
